First, favorite shows of the Dutch (other than their own Dutch programming, which Justin says they should have more of and stop leeching off our country, and I say, it's a small country! It's smaller than California!):
- Friends: who can blame them? I am falling in love with Friends all over again -- let's just say that we were "on a break." oh no
- The A-Team: entertaining when I was in grade school
- Charmed: no comment
- Law and Order: SVU The "SVU" is critical here -- this is the WORST television I have ever seen! As soon as I catch a whiff of Mariska Hargitay or Ice-T, I start screaming. Just ask Justin.
- British game shows: these include 1) the British version of The Weakest Link with that really mean woman and all the Brits taking it in the ass; 2) Eggheads, which is a show about really smart old people -- the most boring show on TV. But the old people are quite smart; 3) This game show I don't know the name of, that requires the contestants to identify geometric shapes. Yes, really, that's all they do.
- BBC news: mostly comprised of supposed serial killers, missing children, and concerns about the American dollar. Also, Greenpeace keeps infiltrating various English public spaces, like Heathrow and Westminster. Go Greenpeace.
Meanwhile, thanks to the Internet, we watch all the American TV and movies we want on surfthechannel.com. Tonight we will watch episode 9 of this season of The Wire (if you watch The Wire you know what a coup this is); this weekend we watched Juno. Also in the queue is Be Kind, Rewind. The seedy underbelly of this kind of access is that I watched 27 Dresses the other day. We have begun (as our back-up) watching every episode of Lost, from the very beginning. I've never seen this show, but Charlie from Party of Five is looking great -- was he in the military or something? He knows a lot of shit. Also, I think the tail of the plane that just cracked off might end up being important in future episodes. Am I right? Oh, and of course I can not fail to mention Project Runway and America's Next Top Model, Cycle 10. In fact I am thinking of starting another blog that is dedicated to those shows.
What do I eat while I'm staring at the TV/laptop?
Cookies, and lots of 'em
Beer -- Leffe from Belgium is very good
Muntdrops: these are coin-sized licorice candies that are the consistency of a hockey puck; very good
Bread and gouda. So much gouda.
Tea
Also, I finally got a bike. It is pretty kick ass. I'll post a photo soon.

please, please start blogging about ANTM and Project Runway. My favorite blogger (four four) stopped blogging about them so I have a void to fill. TV, cookies, beer. Sounds like a great life!
amusing blog on tv. why do we love tv so much? there is something rooted in our childhood that has instilled this in all of us - what is it? was it the escape from our emotional turmoil of divorce/death/weirdo family-ness? or was it just that we could watch a lot. i mean, i think we watched some serious TV. it's like our comfort food. we are obese TV watchers in the Clark family!
let's explore this more....
I watch all the shows you talked about -- Friends, ATeam & L & 0 -- similiar feelings about SVU... but on the other hand I love Criminal Intent. At one point I was watching 2 episodes a night, but Mike made me give one up. He just keeps me down. I've seen 27 Dresses too. Sad Sad Life.
I wonder if I could ever watch so much TV that I got sick of it. I don't think so.
See what you are keeping from your kids? I was about to call social services on you for not having regular TV. Now you know why they want to hang out with Princess Jenny.
PS - Loved Juno -- what did you think?
