More unmentionables/CFP
So my friend Colleen suggests this short video if you are further interested in the politics/psychoanalysis of poop... If you liked the first video, you'll love this one. And if you didn't like the first video, you'll still love this one. I'd appreciate any "close readings" people can come up with for this -- Colleen initiates one in her comment (see the most recent Obama posting to find that comment). As the grad students tend to say, I'm "most interested" in readings that address national identity/history, including those of both its characters and its actors (David Cross is American, of course; Gondry is French); I'm also concerned with the presence of the "directorial subject" within the narrative itself and his/its relationship to his/its own feces/film. Yes ma'am.

Strange and hilarious. It's true, you've gotta flush that shit before it gets the best of you. Love the music. Love how Cross is reading Entertainment Weekly while he's taking a human.
Did you guys see "There Will Be Blood"?
no, it comes out this week. i'm excited. although we found this website that has every movie and every tv show (we saw yesterday's wire episode a week ago on it), but i am refraining from watching it on the small screen. we did watch juno the other night -- ohhh jason bateman. the winks. the hair. the memories of Silver Spoons.
What do you think of the Wire this season? Slate is hating on it kind of bad--have you been reading their week-by-week discussion? I've liked the show quite a bit this year. It's become almost a parody of the first four seasons, or a meta-season--they're going over the edge with everything. Slate hates McNulty this year--I just love his storyline. He was always capable of this and he's a very creative guy. Peace.
well, i've only seen season 4 and this, so i am not picking up on the meta... it is over the top, but that's what it takes to entertain me so i am really into it. i am going to check out the Slate column -- who writes it? it's not stephen metcalf, the crazy guy from the book club?
What site are you using to watch movies? Alluc.org? There Will Be Blood is crazy! It made me really uncomfortable but it's also funny. Would you expect to hear the line, "I'm your brother from another mother." in it? but you should really watch Gondry's new movie Be Kind Rewind, It's great and much more fun to watch than There Will Be Blood and there is no shit in it. I heard a rumor that they might make an Arrested Development movie... but that might not be as good as the show-- since you mentioned Jason Bateman...

i am hoping Be Kind will show up on this site, since there's a bit of a delay in release dates here...
