I gotta get a bike!

OK, I know I promised to lecture on Dutch plumbing, but that topic doesn't really mesh with this photo, which I love.

Bikes rule the Netherlands!

Today is Valentine's Day. I received some very pretty tulips and a tea mug. I drink a lot of tea now.

Yesterday I had my first class. It was really amazing. Rosi Braidotti taught -- I have so many crazy-awesome quotes from her in my notes. At one point in the lecture she literally flicked off Derrida. She also described power as that which is "most intimate and most public at the same time." And that "the center of the panopticon -- the heart of power -- is empty." My god it was wonderful.

Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Condy Rice, Princess Diana, the Pope and others all took some pretty tough hits, too.
